It was a great pleasure to welcome participants from all over the world to the 10th International Conference on Frontotemporal 2016 in Munich/Germany. We are especially pleased that we have been able to gain 20 fully qualified medical specialists of the following fields: psychiatry, psychotherapy, neurology, neuropsychology and neuropathology. Approximately 550 authors have submitted abstracts to our conference.

The conference has been provided a forum for discussing all the aspects related to the state of the art regarding the rare disease Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) on a scientific basis presented by internationally renowned experts in different lectures and expert panel discussion, data blitz presentations and presentations of international study groups. Additionally, an extensive poster session with over 440 posters has completed the scientific programme.

The ICFTD 2016 has been the most important opportunity for clinicians, researchers, and trainees of various backgrounds and disciplines to share their knowledge with the goal to improve the care for patients with FTD. In the meeting the participants refreshed their knowledge in epidemiology, clinical diagnosis, neuropsychology, neuroimaging, neuropathology, genetics, cell biology, animal models and management for their daily practice in patient care. They have been fostered their theoretical and practical knowledge of the established techniques and will learn to use new ones.

The conference has gone hand in hand with the Educational Workshop: Primary Progressive Aphasia as well as the International FTD Caregiver Conference 2016 who has been a forum for discussion. It raised the awareness for FTD nationally and internationally and pointed out the urgent need for patient oriented research and the development of patient care and support strategies.

We thank you all for coming and hope that you returned home inspired by new insights and many new ideas.
